Andreas Gursky (German, 1955) is a German photographer well known as colorful and large format of description of life. Gursky was born in Leipzig, Germany, and grew in Düsseldorf, where his father worked as photographer. In his early 20s, he studied photography.
Andreas Gursky used large-format cameras, digital technology and tried to shoot and present the picture in the old way. His art style are Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism.
Most famous artwork is 99 cent. This photograph describes the inside of a 99 cent store in Los Angeles. The shelves are filled with widely recognizable brands item, all sold below their normal price. Gursky says he got inspired by an experience on his trip to Los Angeles when he became “directly fascinated” by a dollar store window while driving at night. He criticized about theissue of manufacture and exchange on the photograph.
