An American artist born in 8th September 1980, Daniel Arsham creates work in art, architecture, and performance. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and later moved to Miami, Florida. He is a co-founder of a company, Snarkitecture, which is fairly recognized among design companies. When he was in the age of 16, a devastating hurricane named Andrew destroyed his community as well as his house. Through this harsh experience, he established this belief that everything was impermanent and it became the main theme of most of his artworks. This idea is shown in his arts by illustrating the actual decaying and rusting process of products from around us.
Daniel says he had an intention to show how uncontrollably fast our technologies are evolving and how quickly things are turning old and getting buried regardlessly. Thus, he approaches the world in a somewhat ironic way, thinking every one of us as a fossil to be dug up in the future. He doesn't care much of other people's views of his somewhat bold statements and artworks, but he thinks it is much more important to express one's ideas with a strong stake. He creates his art pieces with geological materials such as sand, selenite, or volcanic ash to resemble them as if they had been dug up straight from the earth.
