Tim Noble and Sue Webster

Aluma-Aci Kamure

The creators of this artwork are Tim Nobel and Sue Webster.

Tim (Left): 178.5 x 110 x 167 cm (701/4 x 431/4 x 653/4 in) Sue (Right): 215 x 98.5 x 130 cm (843/5 x 383/4 x 511/5 in)

This art piece is called Wild Mood Swings and is made of discarded pieces of wood, 2 wooden step ladders and a light projector. Wild Mood Swings is a projection of a relationship between two companions where each sculpture displays the bodies of the artists that created them, Tim is on the left and Sue is on the right.

The shadow projection represents the climax after a quarrel or dispute. The theme of the shadow I suppose is "love and disputes". When committing to a relationship quarrels become more likely to happen, this happens because the longer you commit to a relationship the clearer the differences and similarities between the two. The duo believes that the making process of their shadow sculptures represents the transformation from an object without worth to an object with significance.
